Controversial politician and businessman Akwasi Addai Odike has described Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Minister of Education, as the ideal leader to carry the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the future, calling him a “direct replica” of former President John Agyekum Kufuor.‎‎Odike made this bold endorsement during a panel discussion on UTV, where he praised Dr. Adutwum’s humility, character, and innovation, noting that these traits mirror those of President Kufuor—widely regarded as one of Ghana’s most respected and effective leaders.‎‎ “Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum is a direct replica of H.E. John Agyekum Kufuor.

His character, humility, and innovation make him the best candidate for the NPP,” Odike asserted live on UTV’s political talk segment.‎‎‎‎He highlighted Dr. Adutwum’s transformative work in the education sector—especially his focus on STEM education and the modernization of secondary schools—as proof of his visionary leadership and development-driven mindset.‎‎The endorsement comes amid rising interest in who will lead the NPP into the 2028 general elections.

Though Dr. Adutwum has not officially declared any political ambitions, Odike’s remarks have sparked discussions about his potential to unify the party and appeal to a broader base.‎‎

Party insiders and political watchers alike say that any candidate associated with the legacy of President Kufuor will be seen as a figure of stability, competence, and maturity—qualities many believe are essential to revitalizing the NPP’s electoral fortunes.‎‎Whether Dr. Adutwum takes up the mantle remains to be seen, but endorsements like this signal growing public interest in his leadership beyond education.‎‎‎
