ACCRA – A recent poll by Global Info Analytics, has revealed Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Vice President of Ghana, has emerged as the clear leader in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries, with an impressive 57% of delegate support.
This survey, published on Monday, September 29, 2025, positions Bawumia as the front-runner in the race for the party’s 2028 presidential bid.
The poll results highlight Bawumia’s overwhelming support among NPP delegates, showing that nearly half of the party’s base is firmly behind him.
However, the findings also underscore a significant number of delegates—almost 30%—remain undecided, creating a level of uncertainty that could shake up the race in the coming weeks.
Despite the former Vice President’s strong position, the poll indicates that Kennedy Agyapong, a businessman and former legislator from Assin Central, is emerging as his closest challenger. However, Agyapong has yet to capitalize on any significant dip in Bawumia’s support, and his campaign faces the uphill challenge of winning over a portion of the undecided delegates.
Political analysts suggest that unless Agyapong can persuade these undecided delegates to his side, Bawumia’s lead may remain unchallenged. The contest remains fluid, with both contenders continuing to ramp up their campaigns as they push to secure the party’s coveted flagbearer position.
The NPP’s presidential primaries are seen as a critical moment for the party as they set the stage for the 2028 general election. The ultimate outcome will likely shape the direction of the party, influencing its strategy, policies, and overall approach in the national polls.
The data from Global Info Analytics not only shows Bawumia’s dominance within the party but also illustrates the dynamic nature of the race as it unfolds. With the stakes this high, both Bawumia and Agyapong will have to work tirelessly to sway the remaining delegates, making the next few weeks crucial in determining the NPP’s future leader.
