Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), George Afriyie, has firmly expressed his confidence that Black Stars head coach Otto Addo will not repeat the mistakes of the past when Ghana competes at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM, Afriyie emphasized that Otto Addo has grown significantly since his previous experience in charge, particularly during the 2022 World Cup, and will be a far more mature and strategic leader in the upcoming tournament.

“Otto Addo is now a mature coach, and I don’t think he will make mistakes at the World Cup,” Afriyie stated. “He has learned from past experiences and understands what is required at that level.”

This marks a renewed sense of optimism surrounding Otto Addo’s leadership ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Ghana will face Panama, England, and Croatia in Group L. The tournament will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and will see the Black Stars making their fifth appearance on the world stage.

Despite criticism following Ghana’s early exit from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Otto Addo has earned praise for his ability to help the Black Stars secure qualification for the 2026 tournament.
