Tempers flared on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana when National Democratic Congress (NDC) Deputy General Secretary Mustapha Gbande demanded an apology from broadcaster Paul Adom-Otchere over claims made on air about his political allegiance.
The exchange occurred in the final minutes of the programme hosted by Moro Awudu, with Adom-Otchere appearing as a guest alongside former minister Nii Lante Vanderpuye.
Adom-Otchere had suggested that Gbande was politically aligned with Chief of Staff Julius Debrah should Debrah decide to contest the party’s flagbearership in the future. He made the comment during a discussion on a Global Info Analytics poll that ranked Haruna Iddrisu as the NDC’s strongest candidate for the 2028 presidential election.
Gbande, visibly upset, rejected the claim outright. “I am furious and I want him to withdraw and apologise for making such claims,” he said, insisting he has never publicly declared support for any potential flagbearer within the NDC.
Faced with Gbande’s protest, Adom-Otchere retracted his statement and issued an apology live on air.
