Martin Korsah Slams Govt for Neglecting DRIP Machines and Leaving Roads in Poor Condition

The Member of Parliament for Techiman South, Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, has sharply criticized the current government for failing to utilize road construction equipment procured under former President Akufo-Addo’s administration.

According to Korsah, the DRIP (District Road Improvement Project) machines, purchased to improve road infrastructure across Ghana, have been left idle, leaving numerous communities with poorly maintained and deteriorating roads.

During an interview with Peace FM, Korsah expressed frustration over the government’s decision to hand out contracts for road construction instead of utilizing the DRIP machines, which were specifically meant for such projects. “It is sad how the John Dramani Mahama government has allowed roads to deteriorate to this extent without putting the DRIP equipment to use,” he said. “These machines were bought with the aim of improving road conditions in our communities, yet they remain unused, and our roads are in a deplorable state.”

The Techiman South MP further questioned the rationale behind the government’s decision not to employ these machines, which were intended to reduce dependency on external contractors and create jobs within the local communities. Korsah urged Ghanaians to demand answers from the government about the DRIP machines’ current status and their inability to fulfill their intended purpose.

“It’s time for the government to explain to the people why such vital resources are lying dormant while our roads continue to worsen,” Korsah added.

The DRIP program was initially introduced under the Akufo-Addo administration as part of the government’s broader initiative to improve road infrastructure across the country.
