Nitiwul Demands Immediate Release of Preliminary Findings In Deadly Helicopter Crash

Former Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul has called on the government to release the preliminary findings of the investigation into the tragic helicopter crash that occurred on August 6, 2025, claiming the lives of eight individuals, including two prominent cabinet ministers.

The accident, which shocked the nation, killed Minister for Defence Edward Omane Boamah and Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Murtala Muhammed. Six others perished in the crash, which has left the public with lingering questions and anxiety about the cause of the disaster.

While a full investigation is ongoing, Nitiwul, who has extensive experience in defence matters, expressed concern over the lack of transparency from the authorities. Nearly three months after the crash, the public is still waiting for the initial findings, and speculation is mounting regarding the reasons behind the delayed release.

Speaking to the media this week, Nitiwul emphasised that while a thorough investigation might take months to complete, there is no reason why the government cannot share initial findings with the public to provide some clarity. “The investigation will take time, but I believe the people of Ghana are entitled to know what has been discovered so far,” he said.

He also warned that the prolonged silence surrounding the issue could lead to public mistrust in the process and further fuel rumours. “The government needs to restore confidence by providing updates. The delay in publishing even basic information is adding unnecessary anxiety among the public.”
