The Ghana Education Service (GES) has directed teachers to follow established administrative channels for raising concerns, warning that staff who bypass these structures or engage the media during school hours may face disciplinary action.
In a circular addressed to all Regional Directors of Education, GES management noted a growing trend of newly recruited teachers visiting the Headquarters, forming unrecognized groups, or granting media interviews without following proper procedures.
The directive emphasizes that teachers must first present their concerns to their Heads of School and escalate issues through District and Regional Directorates.
The National Office engages only with Regional Directorates and legally recognized teacher unions.
GES warned that any teacher absent from their duty post or captured engaging media during official school hours will be treated under the “Absence from Duty” provisions in the Code of Conduct, with disciplinary procedures applied.
School Heads and District Directors will also be held accountable for oversight failures.
Management acknowledged progress in clearing backlogs and streamlining administrative systems but said confrontational approaches disrupt operations.
The service reaffirmed its commitment to addressing legitimate staff concerns through structured engagement and due process.
