According to several media outlets, the crash occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Kubease, resulting in multiple casualties. Initial reports suggested that the vehicle involved—a Toyota Hiace with registration number GJ 2206 -21—was part of the 2M Express fleet.
In a strongly worded statement issued on Thursday, 2M Express categorically refuted the claim, clarifying that the van in question, which bears body tag number 09, is not owned by the company and does not form part of its operational fleet.
“The continued misunderstanding and reference of all Toyota Hiace vans as 2M Express by some media houses is highly unprofessional and very problematic,” the statement read.
While expressing condolences to the families of the deceased and wishing the injured a speedy recovery, 2M Express criticized what it described as careless and misleading reporting by major news outlets, including Joy News. The company urged journalists to conduct proper background checks before publishing information.
The statement emphasized that all official 2M Express vehicles are fully branded with the company’s name and that its operations are guided by strict safety standards.
“We possess one of the best teams in the road transport sector, with stringent safety measures in place. Our drivers are among the best in the country,” management said.Calling on both media houses and bloggers to distinguish between similar-looking vehicles, the company stressed that “not all white Toyota Hiace vans belong to 2M Express.”
The transport operator reaffirmed its commitment to offering safe, comfortable, and internationally compliant services to passengers across Ghana, maintaining its position as a leader in the industry.
