Mahama’s use of his brother’s private jet for official duties unethical

Kofi Tonto, a political aide and Deputy Spokesperson to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has raised concerns over President John Dramani Mahama’s choice to fly on a private jet for his recent trip to South Korea.

Tonto has criticized the decision, calling it unethical for Mahama to use his brother’s private jet for official duties.

Tonto’s remarks come after Okudzato Ablakwa, a member of Parliament, claimed that the Presidential Jet remains in top condition.

Tonto took to his official Facebook page to challenge Mahama’s actions, suggesting a contradiction with his previous stance on private jets.

In a post on Facebook today, Kofi Tonto referenced Okudzato Ablakwa’s recent statement that the Presidential Jet was in “pristine condition,” asking, “So why is President John Mahama not using it?” His comment highlights a perceived inconsistency in Mahama’s travel choices, as he opted to fly on his brother Ibrahim Mahama’s private jet for the five-day South Korean tour.

Tonto’s remarks were particularly pointed given the history of criticism from Mahama and his party during their time in office.

Both Mahama and Okudzato Ablakwa had previously spoken out against the use of private jets by public officials, calling for greater accountability and transparency in government spending.
