It’s too early to predict Bawumia will lose 2028 election — Okraku-Mantey

Former Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mark Okraku-Mantey, has questioned recent prophecies predicting that Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia will lose the 2028 presidential election.

Speaking on UTV Ghana, Okraku-Mantey said it is far too early for prophets or religious figures to make definitive claims about the outcome of the election.

“There are many factors that influence political outcomes, some of which are completely beyond human control,” he explained.

He cited an example involving President John Dramani Mahama, who, during a State of the Nation Address, indicated that gold prices were expected to remain stable or increase over the following three years, encouraging economic planning around gold. However, unforeseen tensions between the United States and Iran later caused fluctuations in global fuel and commodity prices, demonstrating how unpredictable events can affect projections.

“So if you say Dr. Bawumia is going to lose in the 2028 presidential election, what research have you done to come to that conclusion?” Okraku-Mantey questioned.

He also shared a personal experience, recalling how a pastor once prophesied that he would win his parliamentary primaries in Ayensuano — a prediction that did not come true.

“This shows that prophecies do not always determine final outcomes,” he concluded, urging Ghanaians to approach political predictions with caution.
