Kumasi Dual Carriageway: Boamah raises alarm over reporting lapses, financing concerns

Hon. Patrick Yaw Boamah, MP for Okaikwei Central, has expressed serious concerns in Parliament regarding reporting inconsistencies and potential financing challenges affecting the Kumasi dual carriageway project.

Presenting an update to the House, he outlined the current progress levels across key construction zones:

Osino South – 77%

Osino North – 70%

Enyinam – 62%

Enyenresi South – 65%

Enyenresi North – 64%

Kintampo – 66%

Konongo – 62%

The 2026 Budget allocates GHC 5.378 billion to the project, including GHC 910 million expected from development partners.

However, Hon. Boamah criticised the official report for excluding the Winiba Mangesim stretch despite active construction works taking place there. He warned that the government’s increasing dependence on development partners particularly within the context of the IMF programme could create vulnerabilities that may hinder project timelines and jeopardise national infrastructure targets.

He further questioned the validity of the “road condition mix” referenced by the Roads Minister, describing it as a widely contested measure that may not accurately reflect the realities on the ground.

Hon. Boamah called on the Ministry to provide more transparent, complete, and accurate updates to strengthen parliamentary oversight and maintain the credibility of the project.
