NPP race: I’ll run a clean campaign, true leaders don’t rely on insults to win elections – Adutwum

Former education minister and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has pledged to run what he called a clean campaign, telling delegates in the Ashanti Region that he would not tolerate insults or personal attacks from his team.

“I will not allow anyone on my team to insult or malign others. My focus is to share my vision with the delegates and appeal to their conscience,” Adutwum said on Friday, addressing former party executives at the Mampong zone as part of his “Hope Tour” of the region.

“Anyone who truly believes they can win this election will not resort to insults,” he added.

Empty gestures

Adutwum said the NPP must uphold unity and integrity, warning against what he described as empty gestures of reconciliation after internal damage is done.

“After the contest, we must work together in unity — not by setting up reconciliation committees after the damage is done, but by running a clean and respectful campaign from the start,” he said.

Smear campaign

He dismissed attempts to smear his character indicating that attempts to “defame my character will not succeed.”

“I am committed to a campaign devoid of insults — one that is free, fair, transparent, and worthy of our great party.

If we uphold these values at every level, we will emerge stronger and more united,” he added.
