ACCRA – The Ministry of Education has commended the University for Development Studies (UDS) football team for reaching the finals of the 2025 World University Games in Dalian, China, calling their feat a source of pride and inspiration for Ghana.

In a statement, the Ministry praised the players for their discipline, resilience and teamwork, saying their journey to the final reflects the determination and unity that embody the Ghanaian spirit.

“Every pass, every effort, and every sacrifice on the field reflects not only your commitment to excellence but also the power of unity and the indomitable spirit of Ghana,” the Ministry said.

The team’s historic run has stirred excitement at home, with many Ghanaians hailing their performance as a sign of the country’s growing presence on the world sporting stage. The Ministry added that the UDS players had become role models for young people across the nation.

Education Minister, who pledged to drive renewed investment in school and university sports, said the UDS success should inspire a new era of development in student athletics.

As the team prepares for the championship clash, the Ministry urged them to aim for victory and bring home the gold, noting that such a triumph would lift not only Ghana but the entire African continent.

“We are confident that you can make history and bring the championship home,” the statement concluded.
