NPP refutes allegations of bias in presidential primaries

ACCRA – The national leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has distanced itself from recent pronouncements made by two of its regional chairmen, urging the public and stakeholders to treat such comments with contempt.

In a statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, on Sunday, September 28, the NPP said remarks by the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, and the Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, do not reflect the ideals and practices of the party.

“The Party wishes to categorically state that no individual, irrespective of rank or position, has a monopoly or unilateral control over the compilation of polling station albums,” the statement emphasized.

According to the leadership, the compilation of polling station albums will strictly follow established compliance procedures, with the National Secretariat expected to issue clear guidelines and protocols at the appropriate time.

The party assured stakeholders, particularly polling station executives, of transparency, credibility, and fairness throughout the process.

Addressing another allegation, the statement refuted claims by Mr. Antwi Boasiako that the decision to hold the NPP’s presidential primaries on January 31, 2026, was intended to favour a specific aspirant. It stressed that the National Council thoroughly deliberated on the matter and made the decision in the supreme and strategic interest of the party.

“Given the calibre of the members of the National Council, no individual can manipulate or influence a decision in his or her favour,” the party noted.

The leadership explained that the early congress is aimed at giving the NPP sufficient time and strategic advantage to reorganise, reposition, and recapture power in the 2028 general elections.

The NPP, reaffirming its dedication to fairness and transparency, said its leadership would continue to ensure that every stage of the party’s electoral activities reflects the highest standards of integrity and credibility.
