NPP race: join my team and be seen – Adutwum woos delegates in Bono Region

Former education minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has urged New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates to join what he calls an inclusive campaign team, promising that every supporter will have a voice and be treated as an equal.

Adutwum, who is seeking to become the NPP’s flagbearer for the 2028 general election, said delegates who want their ideas and opinions heard should “join a team that listens.”

He made the appeal while addressing party executives during his Hope Tour campaign in Sunyani in the Bono Region on Sunday (4 October).

“Join my team and be in front,” he told supporters.

“In my campaign, there are no queues. There are no ministers or MMDCEs sitting ahead of you. When you join my team, you work directly with me — I see you, I recognize you, and I appreciate you.

“If you prefer to stand in long queues to be heard, go elsewhere. But if you want to be part of a team where your voice counts, come to Dr. Adutwum.”

Genuine unity

Adutwum, who has built his campaign around education, technology, and inclusive leadership, said genuine unity within the NPP can only be achieved through mutual respect and decent campaigning.

“How can there be unity when we insult each other?” he asked. “If you insult me and later ask me to join your campaign, I might say yes, but it won’t come from my heart. We must conduct ourselves with dignity.”

Bold leadership

He also criticized Ghana’s slow pace of development, saying the country needs bold and intelligent leadership to drive progress.

“Ghana’s development has been too slow. We need bold decisions and smart policies driven by a leader with a big vision,” he said.

“We must learn from how the developed world advanced — by making education the foundation, integrating information technology, and bringing in new minds who have not been in government before to contribute their knowledge.”

The meeting brought together both old and current executives from the Sunyani, Jaman and Tain enclaves.

Adutwum’s Hope Tour has taken him across at least three regions as he seeks to position himself as a reform-minded candidate capable of leading the NPP — and Ghana — into a new phase of innovation-driven growth.
