GPL 2024/25: Insatiable Ibrahim Tanko asks for more after Medeama see off Holy Stars

Medeama S.C. may have won consecutive matches in the Ghana Premier League, but head coach Ibrahim Tanko remains unimpressed.

The former champions followed their 2-0 win over Aduana Stars with a 2-1 home win over Basake Holy Stars on Tuesday.

Speaking in the post match conference, Tanko did not hide his frustrations.

”We had a lot of chances in the first half and should have scored a minimum of two or three goals. But we kept our composure after the (Holy Stars opening) goal. In the second half, we tried to score another but it was unfortunate that the penalty was denied.”

Holy Stars shocked spectators at the T&A Stadium when they took a surprise lead through Issah Yakubu’s twenty-eighth minute finish.

Medeama toiled for the leveler and were rewarded in first half stoppage time, when left back Kamaradini Mamudu restored parity.

Back from recess, Medeama probed for the lead but tried as they did, Ibrahim Tanko’s men could not find a way past the miserly Holy Stars defence.

In the seventy-sixth minute, Tanko made two substitutions that would change the course of the game, when he brought on Derrick Fordjour and Manuel Mantey for Richard Appiah and Godknows Dzakpasu respectively.
