Bawumia’s ‘1 Constituency, 10 Appointments’ Policy Will Promote Inclusivity – Miracles Aboagye

The spokesperson for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has explained that the proposed “One Constituency, Ten Appointments” policy will ensure fairness and inclusivity in government if Dr. Bawumia becomes president.

According to Mr. Aboagye, the idea reflects Dr. Bawumia’s commitment to giving grassroots members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) an active role in governance and decision-making. He said the plan aims to reward loyal party members who contribute to electoral victories but are often left out of appointments.

Dr. Bawumia, who is seeking to lead the NPP into the 2028 general elections, reiterated the proposal during his campaign tour of the Ashanti Region. He noted that a president typically has the power to make about 7,000 appointments at various levels — international, national, regional, and district.

If elected, Dr. Bawumia pledged to decentralise at least one-third of these appointments to ensure every constituency benefits directly. Each of the 276 constituencies in Ghana would be guaranteed a minimum of ten appointments, with larger constituencies receiving even more.

In a Facebook post, Mr. Aboagye said the policy is already resonating positively with party delegates across the country. He explained that it is designed to promote equitable distribution of opportunities and inclusive governance, ensuring that every part of Ghana is represented at the national decision-making table.
