Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says he is confident the people of Tano North will once again rally behind him as the New Patriotic Party prepares for its 2026 presidential primaries.
The former Vice President told party delegates during his campaign tour in the Ahafo Region that he expects to secure 90 percent of their votes.
Addressing supporters in the constituency, Dr. Bawumia thanked them for what he called their unwavering loyalty in the last contest.
“I am excited today. I know I’m always welcomed in Tano North. I want to express my appreciation for the support in 2023. I garnered 84 percent of the votes. In the same vein, I urge you to replicate the support in 2026. This time round, I know that the support will be 90 percent. A win for me is a win for Tano North,” he said, drawing loud cheers from delegates.
Dr. Bawumia’s stop in Tano North was part of the first day of his Ahafo Region campaign, which also took him to Tano South and Asutifi North. His message to delegates echoed his national campaign theme of continuity, inclusiveness and innovation.
He told supporters that Ghana’s development must be driven by private sector growth, noting that private investment will be key in bridging the country’s infrastructure gap. He said his government would encourage public-private partnerships in major projects while focusing on connecting communities through feeder and inter-town roads.
Dr. Bawumia also promised to empower local communities and make sure their needs shape national policy. He described himself as a unifier and said that keeping the NPP together will be critical for victory in the 2028 general elections.
The Ahafo Region is the third stop on his nationwide campaign to consolidate grassroots support as he seeks to lead the NPP into the 2028 polls.
