“We are one family” – Bawumia urges NPP to close ranks for 2028

The 2024 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mahamudu Bawumia, has called on party members to unite and work together to reclaim political power in the 2028 general election.

He stressed that unity within the party remains the most critical factor for electoral success, noting that internal divisions could weaken the party’s chances of returning to government.

According to him, a strong and united front would position the NPP to effectively challenge the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the next election.

Bawumia made these remarks while addressing party supporters in Yendi during his campaign tour of the Northern Region.

The tour took him through several constituencies, including Kpandai, Tatale-Sanguli, Wulensi, Bimbilla, Yendi, Zabzugu, Karaga, Gusheigu, Mion, Nanton, Savelugu, Kumbungu, and Tolon.

He described members of the NPP as one family under the elephant symbol and urged them to set aside their differences and focus on a common goal of winning the 2028 polls.

Emphasising leadership and organisation, Dr Bawumia said discipline, hard work, and unity of purpose across all party structures would be essential to the party’s future success.

He noted that although the party suffered setbacks in the 2024 general election, many Ghanaians still believed in the vision and policies of the NPP.

However, he explained that it was the responsibility of party members to demonstrate humility, dedication, and readiness to serve the people in order to rebuild public trust.

Looking ahead, Dr Bawumia assured supporters of his commitment to re-energising the party following the 31 January primaries.

He said he would support a comprehensive reorganisation of the NPP to ensure inclusiveness and renewed momentum ahead of the 2028 elections. With hope, confidence, and the support of party members, he expressed optimism that the NPP could bounce back stronger and reclaim power in 2028.
