Several prominent personalities in the country are calling on security authorities to immediately arrest social media activist Ralph Saint Williams, following his alleged assault on a nurse at the Ridge Regional Hospital in Accra.

A video of the incident, which has been widely circulated online, shows Ralph storming the emergency ward in the company of several men.

In the footage, he is seen shouting aggressively at health professionals, filming patients and staff without their consent and disrupting hospital operations.

The footage has sparked intense public debate, with some criticising hospital response times, while many others condemned Ralph’s conduct as reckless and disrespectful.

Following the incident, the Minority Health Caucus described Ralph’s behaviour as “unlawful, reckless and deeply inconsiderate,” stressing that hospitals are spaces of care and confidentiality and not arenas for “political theatrics.”

The group called on the Ghana Police Service to investigate the matter and urged the health minister to establish a joint parliamentary inquiry to prevent future occurrences.

The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, in an interview with Joy News, echoed the calls for action, stating that if the incident involves assault, then the police must ensure the law takes its full course by arresting Ralph.

Former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, also weighed in, describing Ralph as an NDC affiliate who has “grown horns” and must be arrested immediately.

Speaking on Asempa FM, Titus-Glover said, “That boy should have been arrested by now. The IGP should pick him up because the hospital is a security zone. You can’t just walk in and assault a nurse. He should be picked up to serve as a lesson.”

The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the government to arrest Ralph Saint Williams and his accomplices for allegedly assaulting a nurse at Ridge Hospital.

The association has threatened to “advise themselves” if immediate action is not taken.

According to the GRNMA’s General Secretary, Dr David Tenkorang Twum, about eight men physically attacked the nurse, leaving her with injuries.

She is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

Dr Tenkorang described the incident as unacceptable, stressing that health workers cannot continue to operate in an environment where their safety is not guaranteed.

Meanwhile, the nurse who was physically attacked at Ridge Hospital has shared her harrowing experience, detailing the events that led to the violent assault.

She recounted that activist Ralph Saint Williams, a member of the Democracy Hub Pressure Group, allegedly initiated the attack.

According to her, Ralph not only assaulted her physically but also issued threats during the unprovoked incident.

“He angrily hit my hand with his fist several times and threatened to follow us to our homes and beat us,” she recounted.

She added that after Ralph’s assault, some of the men who accompanied him also pounced on her, worsening the attack.

The nurse said the incident left her with a dislocated shoulder, severe headaches, and body pains.

Giving background to what triggered the incident at the triage area of the hospital, she explained that Ralph and his team arrived while staff were busy working but demanded immediate attention.

“We explained to him, but he refused to sit down. My in-charge told him to get a hospital card, but he asked why, insisting his name must already be in the system,” she narrated.

She said the situation escalated further when her in-charge told Ralph that hospital procedures in Ghana do not work the way he demanded. This, she explained, infuriated him and sparked the assault.
