Ghana has been plunged into mourning following the tragic deaths of Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed in a military helicopter crash en route to Obuasi.
The fatal incident occurred earlier today when a Ghana Armed Forces helicopter carrying the two senior ministers went down under still-unclear circumstances. The crash has sent shockwaves through the nation, with tributes already pouring in from across the political divide.
The confirmation of their deaths was made in an official statement by Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah. He expressed profound sorrow at the loss of two dedicated public servants who, he said, “served the country with unwavering commitment and integrity.”In honour of their memory and service, all national flags are to fly at half-mast with immediate effect.
Investigations into the cause of the crash have been initiated by military and aviation authorities.
