Senior lecturer at the Kumasi Technical New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Ishaq Kyei Brobbey, has expressed strong confidence in Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s growing influence in the Central Region following his recent campaign tour.
Speaking in an interview on Wontumi TV’s morning show, Dr. Ishaq stated that many prominent individuals and residents of both the Central Region and Western North Region are showing massive support for Dr. Bawumia. He believes this groundswell of support could significantly boost Dr. Bawumia’s chances in the upcoming elections.
Dr. Ishaq also criticized some NPP flagbearer aspirants, claiming they lack a clear message to present to Ghanaians during their campaign tours. He further encouraged people in the Northern Region to continue supporting Dr. Bawumia whenever he visits the area.
Commenting on the 2026 budget, Dr. Ishaq accused the Minister of Finance of presenting inaccurate figures. He noted that paragraph 79 of the budget falsely claimed that monthly revenue from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) increased from 900,000 to 1.7 billion cedis under the NDC government.
According to him, ECG recorded significant revenue between 2022 and 2023, amounting to 8.69 billion cedis—an 80% increase. He added that the figure rose to 16.75 billion cedis in 2025, representing a marginal increase of just 3.42% between 2024 and 2025.
Dr. Ishaq concluded by emphasizing the need for accurate economic reporting and fair political support as the campaign season intensifies.
