The Member of Parliament for Bosome Freho in the Ashanti Region, Nana Kwame Asafo Agyei Ayeh, has expressed his deep sadness over the stampede at El-Wak Sports Stadium, which claimed the lives of six young women.

He described the incident as disastrous and heartbreaking.

The legislator made the remarks on the floor of Parliament during debates on the 2026 Budget Statement presented by Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.

He called on the NDC government to fast-track job creation initiatives to address the growing challenges young people face in securing employment.

Asafo Agyei Ayeh also criticized the 2026 Budget, describing it as shameful and accusing the government of failing to deliver on several key commitments outlined in the 2025 Budget.

He alleged that GHS 300 million for the National Apprenticeship Programme, GHS 100 million for the Adwumawura Programme, and another GHS 100 million for the Digital Jobs Project (DJP) were announced but never materialized.

Regarding the 24-Hour Economy initiative, Asafo Agyei Ayeh noted that while the government claimed to have allocated GHS 4 billion in the 2025 Budget, the 2026 financial statement shows that only GHS 110 million was actually released.
