We were told yesterday that Azorka had been arrested and in a matter of minutes, he was granted bail. Good.
His arrest was hinged on his confrontation with Chairman Buga Buga. It means the threats he issued against Afenyo-Markin, Nana B and Annor Dompreh have not resulted in his arrest.
This is the very issue that Abronye criticized albeit going a bit overboard with how he communicated his frustrations out there.
Interestingly, when Azorka was arrested, we didn’t see his photos in handcuffs. The police did not find it important to take his pictures in handcuffs to splash them on the internet.
When Sir-Obama Pokuase was arrested at gun point in the wee hours of the day, he was handcuffed and his pictures taken and splashed on social media by NDC members. His supposed charge was a misdemeanour.
The same treatment was meted out to Fante Comedy and all the opposition activists arrested by the IGP and his team.
The NDC members who were claimed to have been prosecuted over Ablekuma North never had their pictures taken.
What type of democracy are we practicing? You criticize this and the IGP sends his men after you. There appears to be a separate law for NPP members and another for NDC members.
There were some excesses under Akufo-Addo but what we are seeing now pales that of the previous regime into insignificance.
This is not the Ghana Akufo-Addo left for Mahama. The new Ghana is the worse form of democracy to happen under the 4th Republican Constitution.
