The Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has assured that former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, will be given a full and fair hearing despite ongoing processes to expel him from the party.
Mr Ahiagbah made the comments during an interview with Desmond Okraku Mantey on Good Afternoon Ghana on Metro TV. He explained that any action taken against Prof Frimpong-Boateng would follow recommendations from the party’s Disciplinary Committee and adhere strictly to due process.
“Prof Boateng will be given full hearing after Disciplinary Committee recommendations,” Mr Ahiagbah stated, stressing the party’s commitment to internal democratic procedures.
The assurance comes after the NPP initiated formal steps to expel Prof Frimpong-Boateng following comments he made in a television interview describing the party as “fake” and questioning its internal democracy.
In a statement signed by the NPP’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party said it had taken note of remarks made by Prof Frimpong-Boateng on Channel One TV on Monday, 12 January 2026.
During that interview, the former minister openly stated that he no longer considers himself a member of the NPP. He also made comments the party described as disparaging and damaging to its image.
According to the statement, Prof Frimpong-Boateng further alleged that the NPP’s 2023 presidential primary was rigged in favour of former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s presidential candidate for the 2024 general elections, claims the party has strongly denied.
