The Member of Parliament for Suhum, Frank Asiedu Bekoe, has expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the people of Suhum for their dedication and hard work towards the development of the constituency.
Speaking in an interview with Happyghana.com after donating free fuel to commercial drivers in Suhum on Friday, December 26, Mr. Bekoe highlighted the important role drivers play in community development.
He noted that drivers are often the first point of contact for visitors entering a town, making their work vital to the image and progress of the area.
According to the MP, the selfless service and commitment of drivers inspired him to appreciate their efforts this Christmas by providing them with free fuel to support their daily activities.
Mr. Bekoe disclosed that about 500 drivers whose names were submitted by the drivers’ union were expected to benefit from the initiative.
He added that drivers who could not make it today could still collect their fuel at any time.
He clarified that the gesture should not be seen as discrimination against Okada and Aboboya riders, stressing that their leaders are compiling their lists and that they would also be invited to receive their share once the process is completed.
He used the occasion to extend his Christmas and New Year goodwill messages to the people of Suhum and Ghanaians at large.
The GPRTU Chairman for Suhum, Amanase and Asuboi Area, Kwaku Mensah, affectionately known as Osaman, on behalf of the drivers, expressed profound gratitude to Mr. Bekoe for recognizing their hard work and supporting them with free fuel.
He revealed that the initiative was not limited to drivers in Suhum alone but covered the entire constituency, including drivers from Asuboi, Amanase, Akorabo and other nearby communities.
Mr. Mensah commended the MP for acknowledging the dedication and selfless service of drivers and pledged that drivers in the constituency would continue to serve the people of Suhum with commitment and professionalism.
