Running mate of the 2024 New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has called for fairness and integrity in political discourse.
In a snippet from an interview with JoyNews and shared on his X account on August 20, 2025, Dr Opoku Prempeh emphasised the importance of the golden rule, urging Ghanaians to treat others as they would want to be treated.
“This golden rule is timeless: we do unto others as we would have them do unto us. In politics and in life, we must always resist the urge to destroy others for short-term gain. What we sow always returns, so let us sow truth, fairness, and integrity,” he said.
Dr Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, stressed that politics should not be reduced to a game of destruction and smear tactics.
He cautioned against the use of politics as a platform for attacks, warning that destructive actions often have repercussions.
“You might think that because we are in a political space, everything is a game. If I destroy Napo, I’m very, very happy. But hey, it’s not like that. What goes around comes around. You might have destroyed Napo with the power of your microphone today, but definitely, you will be destroyed when you least expect it,” he stated.
He further urged politicians and citizens alike to sow ‘truth, fairness, and integrity,’ warning that actions taken in the pursuit of short-term political gain often return with consequences.
