Mohammed Bantima Samba, the Northern Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has publicly endorsed Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Wontumi, in his bid to become the party’s national chairman.

Speaking to party delegates during Wontumi’s tour of the Northern Region, Samba called on all members to unite behind Wontumi, saying his leadership would be key to securing victory in the 2028 general elections.

“I want to appeal to everybody here and the party to support the power for 2028. And it is only one person who can be our national chairman and give us power for 2028, and that is Chairman Wontumi,” he told delegates.

The endorsement comes as Wontumi continues a nationwide campaign to build support among regional executives and delegates ahead of internal elections to choose the NPP’s new national leadership.

Samba highlighted the importance of strong, cohesive leadership in preparing the party to challenge the ruling administration in the next general elections, stressing that unity at the grassroots would be crucial.

Wontumi’s campaign has included visits to key regions, where he has met traditional leaders, party executives, and delegates, emphasising his commitment to strengthening constituency structures and empowering grassroots leaders.

The NPP is expected to hold its internal elections later this year, with several candidates vying for top positions, including the national chairmanship.

Wontumi’s tour and the Northern Region endorsement signal growing momentum for his campaign among party stalwarts and regional executives.
