Manhyia official sends strong warning to Jubilee House amid Dormaahene’s provocations

The Ahene Nanahene of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Nana Kwame Mensah Bonsu, has called on Chief of Staff Julius Debrah to inform President John Dramani Mahama and Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang to advise Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, over his attacks on Asanteman.

According to him, the Presidency should immediately intervene and caution Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, known in legal circles as Justice Daniel Mensah, a sitting High Court judge, to desist from further attacks on Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the entire Asanteman.

Otumfuo’s Nanahene replies Dormaahene over ‘welded Golden Stool’ comment

“I am pleading with the Presidency, and I am pleading with Julius Debrah to tell the President that if Dormaahene doesn’t take care and misbehaves again, we will advise ourselves. Julius Debrah, I am pleading with you. This is Kwame Bonsu speaking,” he said.

Speaking in an interview on Adum TV on August 24, 2025, Nana Kwame Mensah Bonsu warned that if the Presidency fails to restrain Dormaahene and he continues his attacks, Asanteman will be compelled to take action against him.

“If Dormaahene is not advised and the government fails to intervene, and he continues to speak against us, we will advise ourselves. This is Ahene Nanahene speaking. I am telling you to speak to the President and Vice President to caution Dormaahene,” he warned.

He further stressed that peace will only prevail between Dormaahene, who also serves as President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Area, and Otumfuo Osei Tutu II if Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II personally apologises to the Asantehene and seeks his blessings.

Nana Kwame Mensah Bonsu further added, “I have asked the government to advise him so that we never again hear such remarks from Dormaahene, else we will also advise ourselves.”

His comments follow Dormaahene’s recent statements about the Asantes, in which he questioned the authenticity of the Golden Stool of the Ashanti people, known as Sika Dwa Kofi.

Dormaahene had claimed that the Golden Stool, believed to have been summoned from the skies by the high priest Okomfo Anokye, appeared welded when it was displayed publicly, casting doubt on the historical account.

Speaking during the launch of the Bonokyempem Council in the Bono Region on August 14, 2025, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II said, “If anyone tells you they can summon something to descend from the sky, I, Agyeman Badu II, am saying it is a lie.

“Didn’t you see when the Golden Stool was recently outdoored, it looked welded? Didn’t you see?”

Historical accounts, however, state that the Golden Stool descended in a cloud of white dust amidst thunder and landed on the lap of the first Asante King, Osei Tutu, by the command of Okomfo Anokye.

Dormaahene, on the other hand, has been a critic of what he describes as distorted historical narratives in the country’s history.
