Here is why Fifi Kwetey has directed NDC members seeking overnight wealth to join the NPP

The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, has issued a stern warning to members of his party who have motives to take advantage of it being in power to acquire unexplained wealth.

Instead, he has advised them to rather cross carpet and join the opposition New Patriotic Party.

According to him, people in the NDC whose sole motives are to enrich themselves at the detriment of the country’s collective development must immediately rescind their decisions because the party will not create avenues for them to thrive.

Speaking to a cross section of his party folk, as was captured in a viral video on social media, he alleged that some members of his party were busily engaged in acts that suggested they want to enrich themselves overnight.

He noted that Ghanaians voted massively to return the party to power not because they wanted members of the NDC to acquire wealth overnight, but because they wanted the party to reset the country on the path of economic development and collective empowerment.

Fifi Kwetey ‘exposes’ NDC members cutting deals with corrupt suspects

“They are in a hurry – in a hurry to acquire properties that people who have worked for 30 years don’t have, in a hurry to drive vehicles that people who have worked as ministers don’t have because they think this party is just an opportunity for them to make something for themselves,” he said fuming.

He clarified that it is not wrong to own a property but stressed that the party which promised to ameliorate the plights of the ordinary Ghanaians cannot be used by individuals as a vehicle to acquire wealth at the expense of the suffering masses.

“I am not saying there’s anything wrong with having a property, but I am saying if your motive and your reason of being a member of this party is what you can get, you are in a wrong party. Look for the NPP; that is your party,” he added.

In the run-up to the 2024 Election, the NDC waged a sustained campaign against the New Patriotic Party (NPP), accusing appointees of the then government of being corrupt individuals who came to power to steal from the poor in society.

The NDC assured Ghanaians that officials of their party will not engage in corruption or corruption-related activities that will enrich the pockets of few politicians while the masses wallow in abject poverty.

However, the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Kwetey, has alleged that some members of his party have been cutting deals with supposed corrupt officials of the erstwhile administration.

He has directed all those party members whose desire is to amass wealth overnight to leave the party and rather join the NPP which, he said, believes in property-owing democracy.
