Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, former Minister of Energy and former running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has reaffirmed the close ties between Ghana’s New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the United Kingdom’s Conservative Party during the UK Conservative Party Congress held in Manchester.
In a message shared on his official Facebook page, Dr. Opoku Prempeh stated, “I participated in the UK Conservative Party Congress in Manchester, deepening the enduring ties between our sister parties, the Conservative Party and the New Patriotic Party. Our shared belief in democracy, enterprise, and opportunity continues to inspire progress in both our nations.”
The annual Conservative Party Congress brings together political leaders, policymakers, and representatives from across the world to share ideas and strengthen cooperation. Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s participation highlights the NPP’s long-standing partnership with the UK Conservatives, which is grounded in shared ideals of democracy, private enterprise, and equal opportunity.
The collaboration between the two parties dates back several decades and continues to serve as a platform for the exchange of ideas on good governance, economic development, and social progress. Through engagements like this, the NPP seeks to learn from international best practices and apply them to Ghana’s governance and development agenda.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as “NAPO,” is a senior figure within the NPP and a two-term Member of Parliament for Manhyia South. His attendance at the Manchester Congress reflects the NPP’s growing international profile and its commitment to building strong relationships with like-minded political movements around the world.
