Accra, Ghana — In a moment of national celebration, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has congratulated Ghana’s Black Stars for securing qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking the country’s fifth appearance at the global showpiece.

In a social media message, he wrote:

“Congratulations to the Black Stars on qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, our fifth appearance on the global stage! You have once again embodied the Ghanaian spirit of resilience, unity, and determination, making the entire nation proud. The journey continues, and Ghana stands firmly behind you.”

The Black Stars sealed their spot following a decisive 1-0 victory over Comoros in Accra, with Mohammed Kudus scoring the match-winning goal.

Ghana’s path to qualification saw key wins, including a strong 1-0 win over Mali in Accra. Alexander Djiku scored in the second half to bolster the team’s position at the top of Group I.

This qualification comes at a time when Ghana leads Group I, having compiled a string of strong results against Comoros, Mali, Madagascar, and other rivals.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s message resonates with the nationwide pride in the Black Stars, and signals optimism for the next chapter. His words reinforce belief in the qualities that see Ghana excel on the world stage: unity, resolve, and collective backing.

As Ghana looks ahead to the 2026 tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, the support of citizens, government leaders, and the football fraternity will be key.

He closed his message with hashtags: #BlackStars, #RoadTo2026, #WithOurOwnHands, #ProudlyGhanaian — themes that reflect national unity and the spirit of collective purpose.
