US-GHANA Deportation Deal: Show Some National Dignity – Pratt Slams Govt

Renowned journalist and Managing Editor of The Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr., has expressed strong disappointment over Ghana’s acceptance of a deportation agreement with the United States, calling it a betrayal of national dignity.

Reacting to the development during a panel discussion on Peace FM‘s morning show ‘Kokrokoo‘, Kwesi Pratt described the agreement as “sad and embarrassing,” questioning the current leadership’s ability to uphold Ghana’s sovereignty.
“What kind of leaders do we have now? Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah wouldn’t have done this,” he fumed.

He lamented Ghana’s consistent pattern of accepting controversial agreements from the US, referencing the admission of two former Guantanamo Bay detainees, popularly known as Gitmo 2, and other deals that have been met with public outcry.

“Other countries have rejected such deportation deals. Why can’t we? When will our leaders learn to say no? What is the essence of our independence if we can’t stand our ground? We must show some national dignity,” he said emphatically.
