A-G Has Ignored His Role As Minister Of Justice And He’s Doing Things To Please Party Folks- Andrews Bediako

Hon. Andrews Bediako, former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Jaman South, has publicly criticized Attorney-General Dominic Ayine, accusing him of pursuing selective justice in the case involving Chairman Paul Wontumi.

Speaking in an interview, Hon. Bediako urged the Attorney-General to act impartially, reminding him that his role is to serve as the Minister of Justice, not to favor party affiliates.

“He’s only doing things to please his party folks, forgetting that he is a minister of justice. He has ignored his official role and is pursuing injustice instead,” Bediako said.

The former MCE recounted past challenges faced by Chairman Wontumi, highlighting that before the 2016 elections, Wontumi’s excavators were destroyed under the previous NDC administration led by John Mahama. Now, with Mahama back in office, Bediako claims Wontumi is being targeted again.

“He’s been placed under a ban, had his 15 cars seized, and his bank accounts frozen. All these actions are part of a clear pattern of selective justice,” he added.

Hon. Bediako contrasted Wontumi’s treatment with that of former officials who allegedly misused state funds under Mahama’s first administration. According to him, cases against those individuals were discontinued by Mahama and the Attorney-General, while Wontumi—who was never a government appointee and allegedly never misused public funds—is being subjected to what he described as a witch-hunt.

Addressing the public and political commentators, Bediako warned that those remaining silent on Wontumi’s case should remain consistent in their stance, regardless of which political party is in power.

“All those who are silent over Wontumi’s issue, we are all watching. When the tables turn, we want you to maintain the same energy,” he said.
