The embattled Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has been granted a GH¢50,000 bail with one surety, the court ruling without justification.
Lead Counsel for Mr. Baffoe, Daniel Mantey Addo, revealed that Abronye’s health had deteriorated during his time in custody, and the news of the bail has provided him some relief.
According to Adom News’ William Nsiah, who was in court on Monday, September 15, the legal team is putting things together to meet the bail conditions to secure Abronye’s immediate release from police custody.
The Accra Circuit Court had remanded Abronye on Friday for one week into police custody as prosecutors continue their investigation.
He was initially remanded on September 10 following his arrest on September 8 over what police described as “offensive conduct conducive to the breach of public peace.”
His detention has sparked widespread debate, with sections of the NPP describing the move as politically motivated.
