BOURNEMOUTH — Antoine Semenyo, the dynamic Ghanaian forward for AFC Bournemouth, has been crowned the club’s Player of the Month for August 2025, capping a stellar start to the 2025/26 Premier League season. The 25-year-old’s explosive performances, including two goals and an assist in three matches, earned him the prestigious award sponsored by Michael Matthews Jewellers, as announced on September 17, 2025. Semenyo’s recognition underscores his growing influence as a key figure for the Cherries and a rising star in English football.

Semenyo’s standout month began with a breathtaking brace against Liverpool at Anfield on August 15, 2025, where his dazzling solo effort earned a nomination for the Premier League Goal of the Month. Despite Bournemouth’s 4-2 defeat, his goals showcased his pace and flair. He followed this with a decisive assist in a 1-0 victory over Wolves on August 23, setting up Marcus Tavernier’s winning strike. Semenyo’s relentless energy also shone in a 3-2 upset against Tottenham on August 30, where his attacking presence helped secure a crucial win. These contributions, detailed in the sports card above, saw him amass a 0.89 expected goals (xG) against Liverpool and a 1.01 xG against Wolves, per Premier League stats.

The award, voted on by Bournemouth fans, saw Semenyo secure a commanding 67.8% of the vote, outpacing teammates like Dango Ouattara. His form also landed him a nomination for the Premier League Player of the Month, pitting him against stars like Erling Haaland and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Off the pitch, Bournemouth capitalized on his form, extending his contract until 2030 amid interest from clubs like Manchester United, reports indicate. This stability positions him as a cornerstone for manager Andoni Iraola, whose side sits mid-table with ambitions of European qualification.

However, Semenyo’s ascent isn’t without challenges. His high-energy style led to three yellow cards in August, and maintaining consistency will be key as Bournemouth faces tough fixtures, including Newcastle United next.
