Dear Members and Sympathizers of the New Patriotic Party… Accept my warm Greetings.
Politics, like any other “scientific venture” deals with facts and data. Democratically, we are at liberty to chose sides especially in an internal contest like the impending Presidential primaries of the New Patriotic Party.
However, It’s always important we avoid giving out our brains freely for manipulation, in the name of “support”.
Let me take you straight to the data I want to speak to;
In 2024, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia; a Mamprusi, secured a whooping 13,384 votes (32.80%) in Bawku Central, whereas John Dramani Mahama of the NDC garnered 26,993 (66.15%)
In the same Bawku Central Constituency, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate; Agobiri Paul Ayale who is a Kusasi, secured 3,855 (13.20%) whereas Mahama Ayariga of the NDC; another Kusasi securing 25,350 (86.80%).
Many may be wondering why this analysis… Bawku Central is most populous with Kusasis, among all other Constituencies in the Upper East Region and so if Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who is a Mamprusi by tribe was able to secure over 32,000 votes from a Kusasi dominated Constituency, as compared to a Kusasi NPP Parliamentary candidate in a Kusasi dominated area (Bawku Central); Agobiri Paul Ayale, who secured a little over 3,000 votes, then where from the analogy that Dr. Bawumia isn’t the obvious choice because Kusasis won’t vote for the NPP?
It’s worthy of note that The Upper East Region, until Dr. Bawumia became the Running Mate to Akufo Addo and Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, has been a traditional zone for the NDC. Most of you don’t know that until Dr. Bawumia reared his head in Politics, NPP has always secured “0 seats” in that enclave but same cannot be said of today.
Again, let’s ask ourselves these questions; since when has votes from Kusasis and Mamprusis determined who becomes President of Ghana, in an election?
This knee-jerk establishment is just like saying Volta region won’t vote for NPP if Dr. Bawumia is made the Flagbearer, when it’s so obvious that even Togbi Sri will lose the Anlo Parliamentary Seat if he contests on the ticket of NPP.
Are you again aware Dr. Bawumia secured more votes in Assin South than Rev. Ntim Fordjour, the NPP Parliamentary candidate?
For a Muslim to secure more votes than a Pastor in a Christian dominated Constituency may surprise many but yes, that’s Mahamudu Bawumia and that’s a man who’s enemies can’t even hide their admirations for him.
Lots of researches were conducted after the 2024 general elections by very experienced Researchers and Pollsters, to unravel the actual cause of the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 elections. Ladies and gentlemen, I am yet to come across a single research finding that establishes any fact that the NPP lost the 2024 general elections because of Dr. Bawumia; his character, utterances or his inactions as the Second Gentleman of the Republic.
Rather, among many other factors, the NPP lost the elections miserably because of the utterances by some unsuccessful Presidential aspirants who psyched members and sympathizers of the NPP, inciting them against our own Party.
What do you expect from a Polling Station Executive who’s consistently reminded that he/she hasn’t even gotten a slot for his children to join the security service or a scholarship to study abroad?… were we expecting them to come out and vote for NPP again after telling them this?
In any case, since the inception of structured political governance systems; from the days of Sir Gordon Guggisberg through military regimes to date, which government has been able to satisfy even 20% of all Party Executives and followers?
Are not hearing members of the NDC complaining already? Or we think it’s Akufo Addo who wickedly decided not to help and that Mahama can attend to everyone in the NDC?
If it was easy and achievable, those who were benefiting from contracts in the NPP government could have also asked government to share the contracts among Polling Station Executives across the country since they were not given slots for their children to join the security services… or was that also not achievable?
At least, instead of giving my wife alone a contract worth $100 million to supply streetlights to the Ministry of Energy, that could have been shared among Polling Station Executives… at least, 25 Constituencies so each Constituency supply $4 million worth of streetlights… or was that also not achievable?
At least, instead of awarding cocoa road contracts worth millions of dollars to an individual, that individual who “loves the grassroots” so much could have asked the President to spread the contract among 50 Constituencies so the Polling Station Executives share the profit…. Or was that also not achievable?
Were we expecting the NPP to win the election when a respected Party bigwig is leaking the Party’s strategies to Kwame A Plus and the NDC?
Were we expecting Dr. Bawumia to perform magic when a high profiled Party person moved to constituencies to sponsor Independent Candidates and NDC Parliamentary candidates against NPP parliamentary candidates /MPs who campaigned against him in his bid to become the Presidential Candidate of the NPP?
Were we expecting Ghanaians to vote for the NPP again when no least person but a high profiled personality is telling Ghanaians how corrupt we were and how we were stealing from the people? Are Ghanaians that dumb to still queue on 7th December to vote for the NPP after hearing all these?
We lost this election because of the ammunitions we gave to the NDC. Yes, we armed them and still taught them how to shoot and when to shoot and that’s exactly what they did.
We lost the election out of an ill-programmed psychology that culminated in the historic apathy we witnessed in the 2024 elections. We allowed so many things to go free in the name of Unity and it has really caused us so much.
Jealousy and bitterness was on the crescendo; so intensed that we had CEOs in our own NPP government sponsoring the NDC to unseat the Party that put food on their table… interesting, isn’t it?
Are we leaving out the National Cathedral propaganda, hubtel ownership, cocoa price promise of the NDC, 1:3:3 Job shift under the 24-hour economy which is currently the biggest Political Scam in the history of Ghana’s politics, Betting tax and E-levy that brushed traditional NPP youth votes to the NDC, allegation of corruption by our own people, School feeding, neglect of the grassroots and Party Communicators?
Logically, Ghanaians took the 2024 general election as an election between John Dramani Mahama and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo.
You may not understand me from a layman’s perspective but all I’m trying to say is that, Ghanaians were carried away by the promises of John Mahama, against what the situation was, under Akufo Addo.
Most Ghanaians didn’t know that the tough decisions taken by Akufo Addo is the fruit the NDC government is reaping today. Meanwhile, most Patriots, as a result of the emotional psyching, were blindfolded and fell prey to the sharp propaganda blades of the NDC. Even as we speak, in the face of the reality dawning on this government amidst the confessions, some NPP members still believe that nothing happened and that we lost the 2024 elections basically because of Dr. Bawumia.
The NPP contested an election in 2024; an election which Jesus Christ as our Candidate and Prophet Muhammad as Running Mate on the ticket of the NPP would have still lost, considering the branded state of our Party, going into the last general election.
Thankfully enough, the God of NPP isn’t slow in vindicating the righteous.
We are all seeing today that, the NDC lied their way to power, taking advantage of the internal wrangling of the NPP.
Let’s be consistent… let’s be positive towards our own Party… When we drop emotions and speak well of ourselves publicly from now till 2028, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will beat whoever the NDC presents as their Flagbearer and there’s no doubt about this.
We need to drop our personal feelings, interests and the hatred we incubate, hatch and spread through our followers and loyalists.
Maybe Alan Kyeremanteng’s political adventure should have been enough to inform us all that; We are, because of NPP and not because of our academic qualifications, business achievements or material wealth.
When we thwart the efforts of the NPP and its candidates, we are not only doing so because it’ll hurt the electoral fortunes of our opponents. Rather and inadvertently, we are misleading and killing the political career of our unsuspecting followers, especially the youth.
To our esteemed Presidential Aspirants; the path you’ve journeyed so far and the experiences you’ve vaulted, I’m sure, will be enough to bring to bear this undeniable fact that most of your followers are seeking their personal interests and will be pushing and attempting to use you to settle scores with those they feel are in “competition” with them.
You’ve come far enough to throw your persona under the speeding truck. Look into the faces of the innocent Youth of this great Party, get your heads up and prepare the grounds in words and in deeds, to secure victory for the New Patriotic Party and “not the Presidential Candidate”, come 7th December, 2028.
Long Live the NPP…!!!
