Dr. Bawumia promises ten national appointments for every constituency under NPP government

Former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has pledged to allocate a minimum of ten national-level government appointments to every constituency under an NPP administration led by him.

Dr. Bawumia described the policy, dubbed “One Constituency, Ten Appointments,” as a strategic move to strengthen party structures at the grassroots and promote inclusive participation in governance across the country.

According to him, constituencies would be given the opportunity to nominate qualified and deserving individuals for appointment, who would in turn contribute to local and national development.

In a message to party delegates ahead of the NPP presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, Dr. Bawumia urged them to vote massively for him, stating that his vision is to build resilient and sustainable constituencies nationwide.

He explained that each constituency would receive at least ten appointments, which could include Ministers of State, Deputy Ministers, Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), Deputy CEOs, Ambassadors, Deputy Ambassadors, and members of boards of state institutions.

“My plan is to strengthen all constituencies in Ghana to be resilient and sustainable. Over the years, some constituencies have been left out of the appointment process. As a future President of Ghana, God willing, I will dedicate 3,000 out of the 7,000 national appointments to constituencies across the country. Every constituency will receive at least ten national-level appointments,” he promised.

Dr. Bawumia further cautioned that performance would be a key criterion under his leadership, stressing that appointees who fail to deliver would be replaced.

“Appointees who perform abysmally will not be spared and will be replaced with competent individuals,” he said.

Dr. Bawumia is contesting the NPP presidential slot alongside Kennedy Agyapong, Ing. Kwabena Agyepong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Dr. Bryan Acheampong.
