For years, students at Nuaso Anglican Basic School in the Eastern Region have struggled with inadequate classrooms, forcing them into a shift system just to accommodate everyone.

Their main classroom block, destroyed by a heavy downpour years ago, left them learning in makeshift structures. But that chapter has finally come to an end, thanks to American rapper Ja Rule and the NGO Pencils of Promise.

The rapper, known for hits like Always On Time, partnered with Pencils of Promise to rebuild the school’s classroom block, providing a safe and conducive learning environment for the students. The shift system is now a thing of the past, giving every child a fair chance at education without worrying about overcrowding or harsh weather conditions.

Speaking about the project , Ja Rule emphasised that education is more than just textbooks and classrooms. He believes that incorporating activities like sports and the arts will help shape the future of the students.

“This is not just about putting up buildings; it’s about creating opportunities. Education, sports, and the arts all go hand in hand in building a brighter future,” Ja Rule said.

Despite the excitement surrounding the project, the construction was not without its challenges. Freeman Gobah, Country Director of Pencils of Promise, revealed that the school’s topography made building difficult. However, the team remained committed to seeing the project through.

For the students, the new classroom block is more than just walls and a roof it represents hope and a fresh start. Many expressed their joy and gratitude, knowing that they now have a proper space to learn and grow.

And while Ja Rule’s impact on Ghanaian education is clear, fans had one more question for him will he be holding a concert in Ghana anytime soon? The rapper remained tight-lipped but left the door open for possibilities.

With his promise delivered right on time, the students of Nuaso Anglican Basic School can now look forward to a future where their learning is uninterrupted and who knows, Ja Rule might just be back for an encore, this time on the big stage.
