Three people, including two students, have been remanded into police custody after appearing before the Adenta Circuit Court over the recent assault on a teacher at West Africa Senior High School.
The suspects were arrested late Monday night at about 11:30 pm and brought to court on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
They pleaded guilty to the charges brought against them and have been ordered to remain in custody until their next court appearance on March 30, 2026.
The case has drawn strong attention from education authorities and teacher groups. Present in court were the Greater Accra Regional Director of Education, Hajia Katumi Natogmahattah, and her deputy, along with municipal education directors from La Nkwantanang Madina and Adentan, Philip Aidoo and Gifty Mussey.
They attended to show support for the affected staff and to signal the seriousness with which the matter is being treated.
The headmaster of the school, Isaac Arthur Nyarko, and Assistant Head (Administration), Forabe Ayer, were also present, alongside the headmistress of Fafraha Community SHS, Abena Agyemfra, leadership of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT MAA), and members of staff from both schools.
After the court proceedings, the Regional Director and her team visited the school to reassure teachers and students of their safety.
She urged students to maintain discipline, avoid truancy and misconduct, and stay focused on their education.
The visit was also meant to boost morale among staff following the incident, with officials and union representatives expressing solidarity and pledging continued support as the case proceeds.
