Passengers across Ghana will pay more for road travel from Wednesday, April 8, 2026, after VIP Jeoun Transport announced a nationwide fare increase.

The company says the adjustment is necessary to keep its operations running as costs within the transport sector continue to rise.

The new fares will apply across its major routes, with travellers urged to take note and plan accordingly.

Under the revised pricing, a trip from Accra to Kumasi will now cost ₵150, while Accra to Sunyani and Techiman have been set at ₵200 each. Passengers travelling from Accra to Dormaa and Drobo will pay ₵220, while the Accra to Sampa route has been pegged at ₵230.

Long distance journeys have also seen notable increases. A ticket from Accra to Tamale will now cost ₵360, with fares to Yendi at ₵380. Travellers heading further north will pay ₵410 to Bolgatanga, ₵420 to Navrongo and Paga, ₵430 to Bawku and ₵460 to Kulungugu. The Accra to Wa route is now ₵390, while Tumu stands at ₵440.

Other routes affected include Accra to Obuasi at ₵180, Dunkwa-on-Offin at ₵190, and Berekum at ₵210. Fares from Accra to Atwima Abuakwa and Effiduase have been set at ₵160, while trips to Nyinahini and Samreboi will cost ₵180 and ₵220 respectively.

Journeys from Kumasi have also been revised. Passengers will pay ₵70 from Kumasi to Sunyani and Ahafo Goaso, ₵210 from Kumasi to Tamale, and ₵240 to Wa. Fares to Bolgatanga, Bawku and Kulungugu from Kumasi now stand at ₵250, ₵270 and ₵300 respectively.

Management of the company says the new pricing structure took effect after a review of operational costs, urging customers to cooperate as the changes come into force.

The announcement adds to growing concerns among commuters over rising transport fares, which continue to impact the cost of travel across the country.
