Nottingham Forest have parted ways with head coach Ange Postecoglou following a string of disappointing results, the club has confirmed.
In a brief statement shared on Saturday, the English Premier League side said the decision takes “immediate effect.”
The sacking follows the club’s humiliating 3-0 defeat to Chelsea.
“Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect,” the statement read.
The club added that it “will make no further comment” on the matter.
Postecoglou’s dismissal comes amid growing pressure on the Australian manager, who has struggled to produce consistent performances this season. Forest have endured a difficult spell, with recent defeats leaving them hovering near the relegation zone.
The 59-year-old, who joined Forest after a successful spell at Tottenham Hotspur, was widely expected to turn the team’s fortunes around. However, the club’s hierarchy has decided to act swiftly in hopes of salvaging their campaign.
It is currently unclear who will take charge of the team in the interim or when an announcement on his successor will be made.
