MAMFE-AMAMPROBI, E/R – The Ghana National Fire Service in Akropong has rescued a truck driver who was trapped after a serious accident at Mamfe-Amamprobi in the Akuapem North Municipality.
The crash, which occurred on Friday, 19 September 2025, involved a KIA Mighty truck with registration number GE 6609-25. The vehicle, loaded with cartons of JOJO alcoholic beverages, was travelling from Accra to Koforidua when it reportedly suffered brake failure. It skidded off the road and somersaulted into a landfill, leaving the driver pinned in the wreckage.
A rescue team led by ADO I Dicka Carlos Sackitey from the Akropong Fire Station rushed to the scene and managed to free the injured driver. The accident caused extensive damage to the truck and much of its cargo.
Preliminary investigations suggest brake failure as the likely cause of the crash.
