he former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Subin, Eugene Boakye Antwi, has claimed that there was a “serious fight” between a stalwart of the party, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, and the party’s 2024 vice-presidential candidate, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO).
According to him, the fight, which was on a platform of the party, was over Gabby’s recent comment that NPP MPs in the Ashanti Region told the Akufo-Addo government that they wanted “communal roads and not flyovers.”
Eugene Antwi, who made this disclosure in an interview on Nhyira FM over the week, expressed his disdain over Gabby’s comments himself.
He asserted that Gabby’s claims were false, saying, “We said we want communal roads!!! It is too early in the day for us to talk about this.”

The former MP, who has declared his intention to contest for the NPP General Secretary position of the party, told Gabby and others, who he claims were responsible for the current state of the party, to keep mute.
“Look, where we have gotten to, they have to shut up. Here they have taken the party to; they should leave it for us to fix. They should keep quiet. They are annoying people with the kind of things they are saying,” he said.
He added, “Yesterday, there was a serious fight between him and NAPO on the platform. It looks as if we don’t know what we are doing.”
