The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released provisional results for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, Second Series.

A total of 41,767 candidates sat the examination, comprising 20,036 males and 24,501 females, including 16 visually impaired and seven hearing-impaired candidates. However, 2,422 registered candidates were absent.

WAEC disclosed that the full results of 348 candidates and subject results of 469 others have been withheld due to alleged examination malpractice, including collusion, impersonation, possession of foreign materials, and seeking external assistance.

The affected results will either be released or cancelled following the conclusion of investigations.

Performance data showed that 67.43% of candidates obtained grades A1–C6 in English Language, while 49.84% achieved similar passes in Core Mathematics. Integrated Science recorded 35% of candidates attaining A1–C6, while Social Studies recorded the highest performance, with 81.21% securing top passes.

The council cautioned the public against fraudsters promising to upgrade results for a fee, stressing that its database is secure and results can only be verified through official WAEC channels.

WAEC also expressed appreciation to stakeholders, supervisors, invigilators, and examiners for supporting the successful conduct of the examination and release of results.
