H.E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has been declared the winner of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries after securing 56.48 percent of the total valid votes cast across the country.

The former Vice President garnered an impressive 110,643 votes, outperforming other contenders to clinch the party’s flagbearer position ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The nationwide exercise saw party delegates from all regions participating in the crucial internal election, which forms a key step in the NPP’s preparations for the next national polls.

Dr. Bawumia’s victory is being viewed by many party members and political observers as a strong endorsement of his leadership and vision for Ghana’s future.

Following the announcement of the results, celebrations erupted among supporters nationwide, while party leaders called for unity and renewed commitment toward rebuilding the party’s structures and strengthening its grassroots base.

As the NPP looks toward reclaiming power in 2028, Dr. Bawumia is expected to lead the party into the next phase of campaigning, policy engagement, and national outreach.
