The Member of Parliament for Walewale, Mahama Tia Abdul Kabiru has announced a partnership with former Vice President Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia to sponsor medical and law students from the Walewale constituency.

This initiative aims to provide scholarships to deserving students pursuing studies in medicine and law at public universities.

Kabiru recently launched the undergraduate scholarship scheme in Walewale, benefiting 148 students.

In an interview with Asaase News at his residence in Walewale, he revealed that the partnership with Bawumia will focus on supporting students who will return to serve the West Mamprusi Municipality and the North East Region upon completion of their studies.

“I am working with the former Vice President, who has been of great support to me in running this constituency, to launch an educational trust fund for medical students. We will sponsor young people from the Walewale constituency throughout their medical training, equipping them with the requisite skills, knowledge, and expertise to serve the people of Walewale,” Kabiru said.

On the legal aspect, Dr. Kabiru added, “The former Vice President has initiated a law support program. I will work with him to formalize it, and we will train young minds in legal studies. This will enable them to become legalists, contribute to advocacy, and address the legal needs of the region and the constituency.”

He emphasized that the former Vice President has expressed his readiness to support the initiative, saying, “The Vice President has also expressed his readiness and support for such initiatives. The cost of medical studies is too high for ordinary people to afford.”

This collaboration highlights the commitment of both leaders to empower the youth and contribute to the development of the region.
