NPP will govern Ghana in 2029; we’ll win if elections are held today – Afenyo-Markin

Minority Leader and Effutu MP, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has declared that the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) would secure victory and become the majority in Parliament if elections were held today.

He also expressed confidence that the party will return to power in 2029.

Addressing executives of the Tertiary Students Confederacy in Parliament, Mr. Afenyo-Markin criticised the current administration, accusing it of failing to deliver on key campaign promises. He cited the government’s flagship 24-hour economy policy, which he said is yet to materialise, as well as its inability to increase cocoa producer prices.

He further pointed to the recent rise in utility tariffs as evidence of what he described as the government’s underperformance.

The Minority Leader used the platform to urge TESCON members to intensify grassroots mobilisation efforts ahead of future elections, stressing the need for the party to reconnect with voters across the country.

Mr. Afenyo-Markin also dismissed claims by the National Democratic Congress that the NPP marginalises certain ethnic groups. He maintained that the party is inclusive and represents the interests of all Ghanaians, regardless of ethnic background.
