Party loyalty, not identity, defines NPP – Justin Kodua reminds Asante Akyem South MP

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Friday distanced itself from comments made by one of its lawmakers, describing them as “unfortunate” and reaffirming its commitment to national unity and equality.

The party said remarks attributed to Kwaku Asante Boateng, Member of Parliament for Asante Akim South, did not reflect the values of the NPP and that the party “disassociates itself” from them.

“The NPP reiterates its longstanding commitment to inclusivity, equality, and national cohesion,” General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong said in a statement.

“Political membership and recognition within the NPP are not defined by personal attributes or identity, but by one’s loyalty, commitment, and service to the Party’s ideals and the national interest.”

The party said it was founded on the principles of freedom, justice, democracy, and equal opportunity, and would continue to uphold those values to ensure that all citizens, regardless of ethnicity, religion, gender, or social background, can participate in national development.

“As a Party of unity and progress, the NPP assures the Ghanaian people that it will continue to uphold the dignity of every citizen and promote a political culture anchored in tolerance, respect, and inclusiveness,” the statement added.
