Napo Reinforces NPP’s Global Conservative Ties at UK Party Conference

As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) recalibrates its political strategy in the aftermath of the 2024 elections, senior party figure Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has reaffirmed the NPP’s international alliances with global conservative movements.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as “Napo” and the NPP’s former running mate in the 2024 elections, participated in the UK Conservative Party Conference held in Manchester.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, he described the event as an opportunity to deepen the “enduring ties” between the UK Conservative Party and the NPP.

“Our shared belief in democracy, enterprise, and opportunity continues to inspire progress in both our nations,” he stated.

The move, though largely symbolic, carries clear political weight. It signals the NPP’s intention to remain globally engaged and ideologically grounded in center-right principles, even while in opposition.

For a party regrouping and re-strategizing for the 2028 elections, such international linkages serve both as a source of inspiration and as a statement of relevance.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s presence at the Conservative Party Congress underscores his continued influence within the NPP, despite no longer holding a formal frontline campaign role.

As Energy Minister under the previous administration and a key figure during the 2024 campaign, Napo remains one of the party’s most recognisable and outspoken personalities.

Political analysts view the visit as part of the NPP’s broader efforts to reposition itself as a credible, future-oriented alternative to the current government.

By aligning with successful global conservative parties, the NPP seeks to reinforce its messaging around economic empowerment, private enterprise, and accountable leadership themes it plans to carry into the 2028 campaign.

As the political landscape begins to shift toward 2028, Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s international engagements may be setting the stage for a continued role in the party’s next chapter, whether as a kingmaker, strategist, or potential candidate.
